While our window film installations are meant to last for a lifetime, it’s important to apply the appropriate cleaning methods to your tinted windows. This is to prevent fading, dulling, and scratching.
Read on for tips to avoid damage to your window film and to ensure its durability in the long term:
After the window film installation, do not clean your window for around 30 days while the film dries. During this period, water between the film and glass will disappear along with any bubbles. You might notice small particles that remain after the drying period. A natural part of film adhesives, these are generally only visible from the outside and do not affect the performance of the film.
To avoid stripping off the surface of your window, use a cleaning solution that doesn’t contain any abrasive materials, chemicals, or powder.
Depending on the type of window film, it might be best to avoid using alcohol- or ammonia-based solutions. Speak to us us for more information about the cleaning solutions you should use.
Apply the cleaning solution with a soft, clean cloth, window cleaning towel, or clean synthetic sponge. Avoid using abrasive cloths, window scrapers, scrub pads, brushes, or paper towels (which contain wood fibres that can scratch your window).
After wiping the window with a cleaning solution, gently rinse with water, ideally distilled water. To dry the window, use a soft cloth or squeegee to wipe up remaining liquid.
